Ivy Pulling/Garden Support
March 25, 2019
For those of you who don’t know, we are establishing a native plant garden down by the primary wing of the school. Last year, Mrs. Eakin’s 2nd grade class initiated the project by presenting SWAYs about native plants vs. invasive plants to the first graders and kindergartners. Then we got started on battling that invasive English Ivy! Last year’s first graders and kindergartners did a great job getting us started but I’d like to recruit some parent volunteers to help get the remainder of the ivy pulled so we can get to the fun part with the kids- planting! When this project is completed, I envision a couple of benches and signage describing each native plant. Not only will it serve as another outdoor classroom to learn about our environment and sustainability, but it will be a great place to wait for your children after school.
We will be pulling Ivy this Saturday from 9-12 at Lowell and we need more hands! Come for an hour or come for the day. If you are willing to help with this project, please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you so much for your continued support!
